The coronavirus worried quadruped owners. WHO calms down

The coronavirus outbreak has also worried quadruped owners who are worried about the virus spreading to their pets. WHO and doctors ensure that there is currently no evidence of a pet being infected.

In connection with the epidemic, many questions arise regarding the possibility of pets becoming infected by coronavirus, as well as their transmission of the virus to humans.
Hong Kong authorities, where a new virus was diagnosed in the dog in February, reported that after repeated tests it turned out that the quarantine spitz, belonging to a person infected with Covid-19, which had previously had a "slightly positive" result in the tests, did not have a coronavirus.
Earlier, however, when the dog was suspected of being infected, the Hong Kong authorities recommended a 14-day quarantine for dogs, cats, and other domestic mammals belonging to individuals with confirmed coronavirus infection.

WHO emphasizes that there is no evidence that cats or dogs have been infected or would be responsible for the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The American Centers of Disease Control and Prevention speak in a similar tone which indicates that there are no reports from China or other countries about pet coronavirus infection. In turn, Dr. Will Sander from the University of Illinois from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine answering the question of the journalist "Business Insider" noted that the coronavirus seems well adapted to spread between people and therefore it is unlikely to jump to a dog or cat.
